So, along with the release of The Unarchiver 3.0 comes another new things: The Archive Browser. This is the often-requested version that lets you browse archives and preview their contents before extracting. However, since this is not a program that I personally need, this one will actually cost a few dollars. Buy it if this is what you really need, or buy it if you want to support the development of The Unarchiver!

For now, bug reports and feature requests can go on the The Unarchiver bug tracker:

It is much better to post them there than in this thread, because I tend to forget things that are not on the bug tracker.
1.9.1 has now been released, which fixes the password and error screens on Mavericks. Apple sure messed up this update, this was entirely because of totally backwards-incompatible changes in system code that had to be worked around.

Mac App Store will be updated whenever Apple gets around to it.
Hi, so I just bought the archive browser from app store and have the problem in Maverick above. Seems like you have a bug fix in 1.9.1 to be downloaded but what do I do with that file. Sorry, I do not know these things..
You'll basically have to wait until Apple updates it on the App Store. We're all stuck waiting for them.
Hey, you know when apple updated to 1.9.1?? e already purchased this day, not even the upgrade. Can you send me a license of version 1.9.1, as the author in the app store, not function at Mavericks.
I would appreciate if you send me the license.
Thanks and regards.
You tell me, I'm still waiting for them too. They've been told it's a urgent update for a crippling bug, and they're doing nothing. Welcome to the App Store.
Mail me if you want a license for the non-App Store version.
Well, it's finally out on the App Store, after I yelled at Apple in about every single way I can. Geez.

You think they'd care a little more considering your apps regular top the free app charts...
Hi,
I'm trying to extract just one file to a specific directory but TAB seems to insist on recreating the directory structure of the archive to the destination.
For example by archive has:
Dir A->
file B
I want to extract file B to a specific directory without TAB creating Dir A as its parent. Any way to do it?
Thanks.
Drag it out of the window and drop it where you want it, that should work.
Is there any chance to get German localization???
After deleting The Archive Browser (through Launchpad) THE WHOLE APPLICATION SUPPORT FOLDER DISAPPEARS, DAMMIT! How is this even possible (sandboxing, anyone?). Now that's what I call a critical bug!
That would be an OS X bug. The Archive Browser can not do that, sandboxed or not.
It would be great to have the ability for adding files to an archive.
just bought from the Mac App store, the sandbox is annoying, can i change to the non-sandbox version?
I'm one of the folks who would love to be able to edit a file in an archive and have it saved back in the archive file. As it stands, I can do that, and see the edit has been saved in the quick-view, but when I close the archive and open it again, only the original file is there. All I want to do with this is update my password file and keep it encrypted, without having to extract, edit, encrypt, then delete the non-encrypted file. Thanks!
Does the Archive Browser support the new RAR 5 format?
OMG I will be estatic if you can help me. I had a sociopath that I had only know for4 yrs, steal and demolish the life I had built for 45 years. He took an external hard rive with man;y many irreplaceable memories. Most of which occurred before I met him. Children graduating, home runs, alls stars, equestrian state finals. My daughter completing the 2 mil run on graduation from BMT at Lackand AirForce base. However, I have a stack of about 20 HP disks that are in an encrypted backup. many of these pictures and mementoes are on these disks. Will Your program the "Unichiver" have a chance of restoring these disks to readable file formats?
When I access kareha.pl through a web browser, it just shows the source code. If I run the command "perl kareha.pl" it gives me and index file, when I go to that, it's just a static page. I'm a noob when it comes to this, can anyone help?

Wrong thread, but you need to set up your web server to handle Perl scripts properly.
I get the error message "the contents of the file "ABC" cannot be extracted with this program" even that this is the second file (4,7 GB) and the first one (11,3 GB) just worked fine. Any ideas what to do?
Hi, I purchased the app in mac app store.
Can you please add option to delete archive after extraction (as in the unarchiver)
Hi, I have just purchased the 'The Archive Browser' app from AppStore for my OS X Yosemite.
When I click on the app preference, I cannot select the file association even I click the "select all" or "deselect all" the association settings do not change.
How can I solve this?
You can't. Apple has permanently disabled this feature in the App Store. You either have to do it by hand in The Finder using Get Info, or use the non-App Store version.
I'm bought App Store version and now I have the same problem as Keith. How can I get a non-App Store license?
I'm bought App Store version and now I have the same problem as Keith. How can I get a non-App Store license?
It is GREAT that the software will UNARCHIVE files. BUT, can it ARCHIVE files, that is, will it also COMPRESS files? Sorry to ask such a dumb question... If it will not (Uncompress and Compress), can you recommend something that does BOTH well... Thanks....
Hello, I am unable to select other types of archives from the menu, only those default. And this in Yosemite.
Would you please recommend a method for getting a non-app store license code for those who purchased the app in App Store?
Bought the app store version. Not able to use because of the problem as Keith. Can you provide a road map going forward?
just want to change from sandbox to non-sandbox, but buy another license?
The Archive Browser asks for permission to search the download folder for other parts every time I use it. Isn't it supposed to remember this after the first time?
I have installed 'The Archive Browser' however am unable to get it to preview zip files via QuickLook (space bar). The program successfully opens the archive and shows the contents, just not with QuickLook. When I view in the '/Library/QuickLook' or '/System/Library/QuickLook/' directories in Finder, there is no *.qlgenerator file which refers to archives.
Also, following up with Keith's question, is there a way to get the non-sandboxed license if we have purchased a license in the App Store?
Hi,
When trying to exclude folders from subfolders (2nd or 3rd child level) doesnt work, those folders are extracted anyway even if they are skipped from selection.
Please fix this on next release.
Thanks & Regards.
The Archive Browser has also been updated to match The Unarchiver 3.10. It contains the same bugfixes, plus fixes for an issue where the app would close quietly rather than open files. The non-App Store version also has Sparkle updates now (also untested).

Hi! Is it possible to get a license for the non-sandboxed version if I send you the receipt of the MAS version?
I downloaded the trial version 1.10.1.
It doesn't start under 10.6.8 (Intel-Mac).
Greetings from Germany
10.7 is the minimum requirement now.
Is it possible to have a Quicklook plugin to see the zip contents directly form the Finder?
I refuse to install a competition software (BetterZip) just to have Quicklook…
Version 1.11 has been released:
Version 1.11.1 has been released, with a small RAR fix to match The Unarchiver 3.11.1.
I have the Apple App Store version on The Archive Browser 1.11.1 and I uncompressed large multi-part movies using RAR format. This one worked but if it has another instance of the Archive Browser open with a loaded file it fails with a dark red screen: Could not extract the file "XYZ" from the archive "(null)":
See the attached screenshot
This has happened with just one instance open if it has over 100 parts.
That's very odd, that bug should have been fixed in the latest version... Can you double check the version number?
Hey! Thanks for the software, i used it for a long time (override demo version) and now i bought it, because it is a good application. Thanks you! Stay tuned!
Is it possible to decompress just by double-clicking the file in Finder?
Just like the system does with .zip
Thanks!
