So, along with the release of The Unarchiver 3.0 comes another new things: The Archive Browser. This is the often-requested version that lets you browse archives and preview their contents before extracting. However, since this is not a program that I personally need, this one will actually cost a few dollars. Buy it if this is what you really need, or buy it if you want to support the development of The Unarchiver!

For now, bug reports and feature requests can go on the The Unarchiver bug tracker:

http://code.google.com/p/theunarchiver/issues/list

It is much better to post them there than in this thread, because I tend to forget things that are not on the bug tracker.

Hi,
When trying to exclude folders from subfolders (2nd or 3rd child level) doesnt work, those folders are extracted anyway even if they are skipped from selection.
Please fix this on next release.
Thanks & Regards.

The Archive Browser has also been updated to match The Unarchiver 3.10. It contains the same bugfixes, plus fixes for an issue where the app would close quietly rather than open files. The non-App Store version also has Sparkle updates now (also untested).

Changes:

  • Fixed crash on OS X 10.11.
  • Fixed a bug where the program would sometimes exit silently when trying to open files.
  • Removed file type selector from the App Store version, as Apple broke it and there is no way to get it back to working. Apple does not allow me to tell anybody this in the actual app, though.
  • Added Sparkle updating for the non-App Store version.
  • Fixed an issue that made unpacked application not work.
  • Better support for Zip, 7z, gzip and NSIS files.
  • Bugfixes for pax and ARJ.
  • Fixes for a few crashing bugs.

Hi! Is it possible to get a license for the non-sandboxed version if I send you the receipt of the MAS version?

I downloaded the trial version 1.10.1.
It doesn't start under 10.6.8 (Intel-Mac).

Is it possible to have a Quicklook plugin to see the zip contents directly form the Finder?
I refuse to install a competition software (BetterZip) just to have Quicklook…

I have the Apple App Store version on The Archive Browser 1.11.1 and I uncompressed large multi-part movies using RAR format. This one worked but if it has another instance of the Archive Browser open with a loaded file it fails with a dark red screen: Could not extract the file "XYZ" from the archive "(null)":

See the attached screenshot

This has happened with just one instance open if it has over 100 parts.

That's very odd, that bug should have been fixed in the latest version... Can you double check the version number?

Is it possible to decompress just by double-clicking the file in Finder?

Just like the system does with .zip

Thanks!

Hi,

I have about 100 RAR archives which are each split into three files, so total of 300 RARs:

fileA.part1.rar
fileA.part2.rar
fileA.part3.rar
fileB.part1.rar
fileB.part2.rar
fileB.part3.rar
...

Each of these archives (fileA, fileB, ...) is password protected - with the same password. What is the best way to "mass-extract" all of them without avoiding the mess visible in the screenshot: 100 separate windows opening up at the same time and cluttering my desktop?

I am missing an opption "use the same password for all" in The Archive Browser?

I am coming from Keka which was not able to mass-extract tons of password-protected files.

Many thanks and keep up the great work!

Sergej
