Looking to Switch to Wakaba (9)

I run a forum on the internet, that is based on old forum software. It requires registration and all that. I have a server available for use. I am very much considering switching, or at least experimenting with 2ch style forums. I know very little actual programming, but I have a firm grasp of basic concepts; I'm more of a graphic design person.

How would one go about implementing this kind of board? I have downloaded the scripts from this site and have looked them over.

Thanks!

If your user base if phpbb lovers, don't even bother. They just will not understand.

If you want a board for discussion, you want to use Kareha and mode_message. Installing it is easy, just unpack the files, copy the contents of mode_message into the root directory, and edit whatever you want to customize in config.pl. If you want more than one board, make several installs.

Thanks for your help!

So I read through the documentation available on the site aboutusing Wakaba & Kareha. I'm currently setting up my server so it can run them. I'm setting up a MySQL database right now and its asking me if I need to create a DSN; is that nessecary?

Also, my server currently runs Windows Server Edtn. is that going to be a problem?

If you are going to use Kareha, you don't need an SQL database at all. Only Wakaba requires one.

The scripts can run on Windows, but it is usually a bit harder to make them work.

Okay. Well, I was thinking of trying out Wakaba first... I'll try Kareha then and let you know how it goes. And thanks!
