Discussed this with WAHa.06x36 on #iichan, who suggested I write it myself, which I tried, but found out I suck too much at perl and waha's code is too weird for me.
Quick summary:
Wakaba counts every post globally regardless of thread.
Kareha counts every post relative to the thread.
This means you can't crosslink between threads.
Though of lesser importance, this means you can't "get".
If you put a unique string in front of the post number in log.txt (like POST123 or |123|), you can grep the log and thus figure out which post number belongs to which thread without using a database.
This would make kareha just as awesome as wakaba.
Additionally, my opinion is that Carthage should be destroyed.
Anyone feel like helping out?
I can't lend any help in implementing this, unfortunately, but if it could be done before Kareha 3.1's release it would rule.
