Problem with Multiple Boards and Refresh (21)

Hi, I know this is not really related to Wakaba nor Kareha but perhaps there are people here that had the same problem (or am I the only one? >_> ):

I have multiple boards on my page, and Im using frames. In the left frame I have links to all the boards I have which loads on the main frame and they work perfectly but, when I click on one board and I want to refresh THAT board my browser returns to my homepage (Firefox only, IE doesnt have this problem). Ive seen similar pages and used the same code (I think) they have on their HTML pages but still it didnt work. I hope that I haven't confused you through my explanation if you still dont understand ask me & I will try to explain it better. Thanks in advance!

Sorry if my english is not so good

right click on the frame and refresh it. if you tell firefox to refresh the whole page, it does.

I know that, but Ive seen similar pages without that problem, when you hit F5 or click on the refresh button you dont return to the main page, it keeps you on that board and Id like to know if its because they use a special code or something. Also, Id like to know which is the best program to create web pages. Thx again

For some reason when I first setup wakaba boards they redirect to the front page when using frames and refreshing but after some time it just stops doing it by itself. I don't use frames on my sites anymore, but I am interested to know why that happens.

>>7 IIRC, it depends on what frame has focus in FF. Click on the board and refresh-- the outcome is different than if you click on the sidebar and refresh. This isn't really a wakaba/kareha thing, though.

No, just tried it. 4chan has got it right though... I looked through their HTML, but couldn't figure out, what could possibly do that.

>>9 This is still not a Wakaba bug.

>>10 Yeah, but it's an issue for a number of people with imageboards running wakaba.
So, if anyone here has the knowledge to help, please do, if not then just keep moving along.
>>8 seems to be onto something with the 'focus' point. Anyone know how to force focus to a particular frame?

Perhaps it is just a matter of how the server is set.

I have the same problem as OP. Any insight would be appreciated.

The solution is simple: enable caching on the file, which contains your frameset (i.e. /index.html). Then, when user hits F5, browser won't refresh the frameset itself, and will refresh just frames.

And how exactly does one go about caching a file?

21 Name: Anonymous : 2008-09-24 23:42 ID:Heaven [Del]

It depends on your setup, but it is usually enough just to leave index.html unaffected by wakaba's aggresive anti-caching options ("Header add pragma", "Header add cache-control", Expires, etc). Please refer to the documentation on your web-server and/or mailing list for specific commands.
