One thing i dislike about anonymious boards is that i cant get a message if someone postet in a thread i created.
So i would fancy optional(!) registering.

it would be very hard to implement and probably less than 10% of visitors to a site would actually register, so it's probably not worth the effort.

Registration, even optional registration, makes it more like a common BBS. There's a number of situations that can arise out of this, or then again it could remain mostly anonymous like >>2 said. It would be hard to implement.

Lack of registration makes post management difficult.

Kind of sucks either way. In which way do you want it to suck?
