Well, another addition to the The Unarchiver family of programs has been released: Archives for iOS.

It's much like The Archive Browser, but for iOS. It lets you browse and preview the contents of archives on the iPhone and iPad, and lets you open files in other apps if you have any installed that handle a particular file type.

If there are bug reports or feature requests, post them on the The Unarchiver bug tracker: http://code.google.com/p/theunarchiver/issues/list

(It's better to post them there than in this thread, because if they are posted in here I might forget about them.)

Since I'm not entirely sure how people will want to use this program, I was thinking of putting up some possible improvements I could make, and let people say which one says good on the bug tracker. I will post again once I have that set up.

Random question: where are you getting these program icons? Do you make them yourself? They're very pretty.

The originals are made by Adam Betts. Some of the later ones I've ham-handedly modified myself from his original designs.

After the last update, I get an error message EVERY time that Unarchiver doesn't have permission to write to the folder (see picture). It says that if I click Extract it won't show again but it appears every single time.

Please fix this, it was such a great software before this bug.

First, this is the wrong thread, please use the The Unarchiver thread for questions about The Unarchiver.

Second, every time you open an archive in a new folder, you will get that message. Are you opening files in the same folder, or in different folders?

v1.1 has been released! Changes include the ones that carry over from The Unarchiver v3.5, and some bugfixes:

• Added support for password-protected 7z files.
• Better support for very old StuffIt archives, including password-protected ones.
• Worked around some bugs in iOS 6 that could make the preview crash.
• Various bugfixes for PDF, hqx and sitx.

v1.2 is out. Changes:

• Added the ability to send archives and files contained in archives by email.
• Added support for the Internet Archive WARC format.
• Fixed bugs in XAR/.pkg, CAB, HQX and Compress.
• Fixed a few more rare bugs and crashes.

Are there any plans for a full screen mode for image previews? If not, could you recommend a iOS image viewer app that works on iPad and iPhone but does not make use of the built in image library ;)

Also is there a way to mass save all the images in a zip file to another app in a few steps?

I was considering making a custom image viewing mode, possibly. I'll count that as a vote for it, at least.

I don't think iOS has any way to do this, unfortunately.

Does this app have the ability to archive text messages/iMessage

Does this app let you, or will it in the future let you zip files too or just unzip? Also, once you unzip a file, can you open the unzipped files in to other apps?

There is no zipping, and I am not sure it is possible to create a useful zipping program on iOS, since any given app doesn't have access to the files in other apps.

But yes, you can open unzipped files in other apps.

v1.3 has been released. This is mostly a bugfix release, containing the changes from the newest The Unarchiver. However, The Unarchiver is still stuck in review. It should be out soon, though.

• Fix a bug that would make filenames that would make files with invalid filenames not work in Zip and Exe files.
• Fix some small memory leaks.
• Read-only attributes for files in archives are now ignored. This caused some files not to extract correctly in older versions.
• Fix a bug with parsing Tar files.

The file which must have been deleted does not disappear completely. Remain in a tmp folder.

Acabo de comprar la aplicación. Al tratar de descomprimir en mail un archivo en formato zip no me aparece su aplicación (Archives). Me aparecen otros compresores y aplicaciones que tengo pero no Archives. Desconozco el motivo.

Si fuera tan amable de ayudarme le estaría muy agradecida.

And now I have, and Apple approved it in record time, so I am going to release this ahead of new updates for The Unarchiver and The Archive Browser. Those will be coming, though.

Changes are:

• Updated visual design for iOS 7.
• Add support for PMA files.
• Better support for broken Zip files.
• Fix bugs in handling of NSIS and MSI files.

Are you going to update your application "Archives" with 64- bit support and improve files deleting shape transitions. I bought this application, simply the best on App store, i would like to make again donation if you would update it :)

is there a pro version of unarchiver with all advance features
like to use on mobiles and tablets. Also, to shrink and send music and images files?
