Announcing my latest little toy:
It's a viewer for the KML and KMZ files used by Google Earth. It uses the Google Maps API to show the locations listed in the file. I made it mostly for my Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou mapping project/obsession (as seen at http://4-ch.net/manga/kareha.pl/1099735375/19), but it should be able to load most any Google Earth file. For example, here's Area 51:
Enjoy! If you want your own copy, it's available here:
Since beta.4-ch.net is gone now, the script has moved:
There's also a couple of updates - the script now supports polylines, and there have been some bugfixes. The new version is available here:
http://wakaba.c3.cx/releases/other/kmlview1.1.zip
In addition, there's now a specialized version of the script for the Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou mapping project:
http://wakaba.c3.cx/ykk/ykk.pl
This one has support for the world-wide flooding data put together by Alex Tingle at http://flood.firetree.net/.
Enjoy!
after uploading a kmz file it says something about key not being registered for that site, and I can't see anything except a blank screen in firefox.
On the wakaba.c3.cx page, or on a page of your own?
Never mind, I noticed it myself too. I forgot to change the key from my test location. It's fixed now.
Hello
I just tried to write some kml with the java framework JAK.
Unfortunately the resulting file (appended with image upload) fails in kmlview.
Could you tell why?
Your tool is very useful for debugging, but sometimes I wish it could tell me whats wrong with the KML file.
Thanks for helping.
