Why is Wakaba in Perl? (3)

Just wondering. I mean, Futallaby is in PHP and Wakaba's based off of that... and PHP is a lot easier to work with. So, why?

Well, first off, because I know Perl a whole lot better than PHP. And because I can't quite shake the feeling that PHP is essentially a toy language, good for quick hacks, but not really for building a bigger project on.

The main reason is the coder. Use whatever tool is comfortable.

That said, perl executes faster and has better security. CPAN gives massive leverage. You can get PHP to execute faster as well, but you'll need to resort to things like APC, and securing PHP properly is a pain in the ass. PHP doesn't have anything is the class of CPAN.
