Moot posted a new article today:

https://content.4chan.org/tmp/extensions.html

It's probably mainly of interest to people running their own image boards or other servers.

  • Google Analytics only catches 64% of their actual page views (excluding crawlers/"threats")
  • Proportionately, they might have close to 35 million unique visitors per month
  • 1.35PB of content served per month

It sounds like their users really want live updating. For now they're throttling clients to 5 second refresh with a simple backoff algorithm, but I wonder if they'll do something along the lines of http://doushio.com/moe/ in the future. Honestly I hope so, but I'd like to see a more refined approach. I think there's a lot of room for innovation in that area.

moot already has a AJAXified Web 2.0 image board.

This is the problem with scripts. People expect too much. Learn to use the tools built into your browsers.
