Western Imageboard Culture - Epilogue (13)

Is Western imagebaord culture - for the most part - dead?
There are certainly a very few healthy corners that haven't yet desicated or putrified under flesh eating bacteria, but for the most part it seems that the final spasms of life are over.
Am I incorrect?

You're just too negative. Just because hipster/normals children and teenagers killed it on 4chan, does not mean its dead forever. Browse other *chans more. I find them to be like 4chan "in the good ol' days."

I haven't looked at 4chan for a couple years.
1chan has a wonderful community, however I am not a train aficionado.
Please do not attempt to read my mind and assume the I am someone who I am not. There is a relatively common psychological mirage - I can't remember the name of it right now - but it causes people to estimate that strangers have the same thought processes and experiences as themselves.

I have been lurking a couple "specialty" boards lately. I think that's the way things are heading - more precisely defined boards for smaller topics, that are interesting to a few people, rather than a huge imageboard for one vague topic that a bunch of people can post on. A narrower focus and smaller userbase seems to make the board a lot more friendly.

Most of 4chan's boards are crap, but there are a couple that are actually worth looking at once in a while. They're not coincidentally also the quietest boards on the site (/ck/ for example).

The "good ol' days" weren't that great. Take off the nostalgia goggles.

Nothing ever dies on the Internet.

The only difference is that once upon a time, the Internet was only accessible to a few people. Now the Internet is accessible to everybody.

Wonderful article. Nobody seems to think about this a lot. I see lots that are the default and are not unique, but it makes a world of difference to customize it to your own source.

Once there lived a rich merchant and a poor shoemaker in the same house.
