YKK Forum

YKK reached the end of the story on February 25.

Though it was very sad, YKK ended in the latest volume of the (JST) monthly "Afternoon(Comic magazine )" today.

However, an alpha and other characters keep living in me eternally.

However however it is very sad, that a story will end someday.

Bye..............

Aw, that makes me so sad! *sighs* What makes me more sad is that people have said that it was being pushed further and further back in the volume, so I wonder if it was because of pressure. =(

We live in tumultuous times.

Well, it wasn't unexpected. I'm looking forward to reading this.

Also, there are some pretty hilarious "spoilers" on 2ch, if you can read them:

Interestingly, YKK appears listed in the contents of Afternoon's April issue

Howdy,

The April issue is the one that just was released on March 25.

We can assume the elves have dug out scans and are hard at work, right? If not, I should be able to help with the first part, at least.

Howdy,

Elves report a stunning lack of raws.

Seems I spoke somewhat too soon too, because none seem to have appeared quite yet. I'll report back when this changes.

Expected, but very sad though. Waiting for the RAW to come out.

Now I'm wondering when the volume 14 will come out... A definite must buy.

And I hope Ashinano-san will continue with his PositioN manga. (sincerely I'd rather say Please!!!)

dDave, aren't we still in February? Doesn't that imply that there will be at least one more chapter if it will be in the March 25th issue? Or am I just trying to avoid reality?

Howdy,

Unfortunately, I already have the March issue which came out in January. So, the April issue is the one currently being sold in Japan, and seemingly contains the final issue of YKK.

Best,

Dave

Trying to make sense of the months and publishing dates is just too confusing. To clear it up: Chapter 140 is the final one.

First it was Mushishi cut to 20 episodes, now it's YKK which is ending.

Worst february month ever.

I hope we will discover Ashinano Hitoshi next work soon :)

Howdy,

The elves have been fed raws. They report that work commences.

I knew it would happen soon, but was saving a hope that I'm wrong.
Sadly, but let it be.

Pretty sad news. I had suspected it was likely, and the recent chapters have not been as good as the past, so I was somewhat prepared for this news, but that does not mean I like it! Such a shame we have lost such a good series.

It's irritating that we'll be left with so many unanswered questions. There's no way that one chapter can tie up more than a small number of the loose ends.

Honestly I didn't expect to have many questions answered.. maybe answers that lead to more questions :)

Was surprised at how deeply reading that YKK had come to and end affected me. I gotta stop checking forums just before going to sleep.

I really hope Ashinano Hitoshi keeps working on Position, or gives us something new to read.

If I'm not mistaken (or mistranslated the 2ch link given above), it is said that the next edition of Afternoon will have YKK character profiles. And the Tankoubon volume 14 will come out in May 23.

Currently in "ira ira" mode...

Howdy,

Afternoon has announced that in May of this year, (which would be the July issue), Ashinano-sensei will begin a new work.

WAHa.06x36, if you stumble across raws, please let me know.

Best,

Dave

Goodbye YKK, one of 2 mangas I ever bothered reading. One a more happy note, perhaps we can expect a new 2-episode OVA soon to finish off the series.

Is Ashinano-sensei still doing position?

Howdy,

Don't think so. PositioN ran in the Quarterly Afternoon special, which is now cancelled.

A toast to a dozen years of excellent storywriting, the growth of an artist, and the endearing tale of a future world in its Calm Twilight. And remember that when the final page is turned, and the cover closed, the very next thing is the front cover anew, and we can again reenter the tale of Alpha Hatsueno, her cafe, and the long excellent journey through life she and her sisters will have.

I have to say I was pretty impressed with the story and the presentation by Dave and company. Can't wait to see what the new story is going to be like.

Btw, does anyone know what the chapter breakdown is for volumes 13 and 14?

Thanks.

*sniff sniff* Goodbye YKK.

To everyone that has helped translate this wonderful manga: I can't thank you enough for all your hard work and sharing this with us. You've done a great thing and it is appreciated.

Wow... geez.... I'm shocked.
I knew it had to end, but i didn't expect it to happen now. I mean, there's still so much I want to know!

The end of this tale brings me to tears (mind you, I'm the type that doesn't even cry at funerals). But, in a way, I suppose the ending is appropriate for the series. The lack of explanations is, in part, what makes YKK so appealing.

Nonetheless, I eagerly await the author's next work.

Thank you, everyone. This story has touched my heart.

Ialdaboth said "First it was Mushishi cut to 20 episodes, now it's YKK which is ending. "

Actually Mushishi will be continued up to episode 26 on BSfuji TV station, starting from May 14 for episode 21.

I just found out today, oh gosh, my eyes are moist as I read the final chapter. The Calm Evening of humanity. How beautiful. Alas Asahino confimed that this story is about the human extinction event and that the roles of the robots is revleaed: they are to always and forever remember the humanity as it decent into the night.

I'm going to miss this manga. But like Alpha, I will never forget. Damn, I hope I can still get a copy of this month's Afternoon. I hope they release a chapter or at book explaining the many mysteries of Alpha's world.
