YKK Forum

I love this

I must say that i started reading this not expecting to like it at all. But after reading jsut some of it i have to say its one of the most beautiful things ive read. It goes nowhere and does nothing but still manages to totally pull me in.

I just love it.

I hope i can keep reading it.

Mwa ha ha hah! Another innocent bystander ensnared!
Welcome to the ranks. You'll find that the timeless, contemplative mindset brought on by YKK will give you patience to pass the long wait between chapters.

Beware the stage when you start chucking out most of your belongings and redecorating with fish motifs... because it does change your life, you know.

...and some of us have been doing this since, oh, 1997 or thereabouts... scary.

The very same thing happened to me last two months when I someone suggested to me this manga. I even bought the volume 11 & 12 of the original japanese manga just 1 month after that. Really one of the most beautiful manga ever.

On the main forum I belong to I am the YKK Pimp. It's true I've converted at least five people to the series by my last count. It seems I'm always pimping the series and making YKK related forum signatures, avatars, and journal icons and banners. Heck, I'm even going to start writing YKK fanfiction to put up on the fanfiction archives I belong to. It's taken over my life that much. Once it gets you it gets you good and hard.

Christine, what site is that? I'd like to check it out.

Back to the original post, it was like that with me, too. Once I checked it out, I was hooked. I bought all the tankoubans and even started buying the monthly Afternoon magazine it runs in so I don't have to wait. I even began to teach myself how to read Japanese so I could try my hand at reading it. I'm actually getting quite good.

Like you say, it goes nowhere and takes it's time getting there. This may be the only manga I can think of without any real conflict or antagonist. It's just a chronicle of the quiet peaceful last days of humanity. In that way, it reminds me of the Nevil Shute novel "On the Beach." Watching Alpha and the people in her life as they live their lives is a wonderful thing. There's not a character in this book I don't care about (although I have a special fondness for the feisty, conflicted Maruko.) Walking through Alpha's world is a welcome break from my own, far less peaceful life.

YKK might also be the reason why I've become so hardcore with drawing, the cafe lifestyle (so much tea hardware) and Choro-Club type music.

There's nothing wrong with trying to elevate the YKK experience beyond reading the pages, right? ^_^

Martialstax, I'm normally over on the mediaminer.org forums at forums.mediaminer.org. I put up my fanfiction on mediaminer and when I have something up there I can safely promote like crazy I'll do it. I've currently got a contest piece going that I have to be careful about promoting. But that's where I usually am. We don't talk too much about YKK on there. It's mainly me letting people know when something happens like a new chapter being scanlated. It's not much but it's a start.

Yah it's a awesome manga. It's what I've been lookinf for in a manga/anime for a long time

I actually got my first url and a site (had lots of sites just on free severs up untill now) because of it. GentleRainOfSerenity.com . Wanted to make a page that reflected YKK and a site to show similar anime/namges/music. The site been sitting there but I'll get to is sooner or later.

Also started a guild based on YKK ideals/feelings in International Ragnarok Online (guild.gentlerainofserenity.com).
Lol and I use Nai as one of my livejournal images.
