Well, it looks like moot quit. What will the future hold without him in charge? Do you think it's related to all the recent controversies (justified or not), or just that moot's done with it and ready to move on?

I feel like moot just wants to not be the 4chan guy anymore. The recognition probably didn't help him out when he was trying to make canv.as a thing.

Moot thinks he's too cool for 4chan.

While doing his Q&A, he specifically stated that he really didn't want to do that. He said it's useless for a CEO or leader to step down and then just control the company with a puppet of a new CEO/leader, so moot said he's stopping all of his staff-related involvement with 4chan. From this day onwards, he'll just be another Anonymous. He apparently also has an "Ex-Admin" tripcode he can use if he really feels the need, but he said he'll try to stay away from it.
