It appears mainly to be used by smaller boards, possibly because they feel they have more to gain (in terms of traffic) and less to lose (in terms of current user/observer dissent).
The boards appear to be ordered by popularity, meaning the system helps (in terms of traffic) popular boards more. Perhaps it has the potential to encourage innovation by giving more exposure to interesting boards, although i dont think it does this very effectivly at the moment.

We would have made them anyway. And to some of us, there IS more motivation than just having a website (if it were just about that, we'd have just made blogs!) Sparky likes messing around with Futaba and is trying to build a feature-filled script without using MySQL (because the only MySQL-free alternative that supports Futaba-style imageboard functions that I can name is Kareha, and there's a lot of features that !WAHa is opposed to that admins of some chans could use but don't know how to code for), for example, and I have my own vision, though much of it has admittedly already been on some other sites for a while. And a lot of those chans were around long before they had ever heard about TCTL, especially the better-thought-out ones, for example Desuchan, which is probably my favorite on the list.

well, those are ideas that it seems only people who are new to the internet have, and usually grow out of in a couple years.
the only people who don't grow out of those ideas are the ones who think they have to stick with the same ideas even if they're wrong because they think learning is bad.
The only cool one there is the cactus site. I think he should be advertising his site on other cactus websites though, not chantoplist.
