Which knockoff do you think is going in the right direction?
inb4 "Kusaba sucks, its knockoffs suck too". We all know that.
none of the ones that i know of are... if you want to start one, the two things to do first would be:
Going in the right direction would consist of
Neither of which was done, so there's nothing good about any of Kusaba's spinoffs.

It wouldn't be a Kusaba knockoff if it was built from scratch.

I think he meant in the whole "cancerous stickies, capcodes, wordfilters" etc debate. Seeing Trevorsaba coded in something that isn't shit would at least be worth seeing.
Pyib doesn't (to my knowledge) have any of the cancerous features trevorchan was filled with. Same programmer does not = same software.
None of the kusaba continuations, as of my knowledge, have made any positive progress whatsoever. One which I recently discovered actually viewed converting all of my valid HTML to valid XHTML, as a priority for completion. They all use most of the original code which I wrote and don't seem to plan on rewriting any part.
As >>6 stated, I'm referring everyone who still messages me with support questions to http://code.google.com/p/pyib-standalone/ and inform them that there is a conversion script. Hardly any take me up on the offer and continue with "just help me this once." Well, take a fucking clue. If you have to constantly be fixing tiny problems with your piece of software, maybe you should spend some time on finding something else to run your boards on, rather than pestering me. And don't get me started on the people who install the kusaba continuations and still expect me to help them on any features that were added.
I don't really post about it that much because of just how blatantly obvious it is. If they don't easily see how poor of a decision it was to install some kusaba continuation after its own creator abandoned it in favor of something else, I don't think they ever will.
I would use Pyib if it came with an oekaki function. that's basically the only reason I ever used kusaba (upload boards were also liked, but can be done with normal imageboardsanyway.)
But yeah, the kusaba continuations have done nothing but have a huge pissing contest when out of the 3 of them, only 2 have working code and they are both basically useless. Extra embed functionality isn't really anything major, when you think about it.
Yeah, but my previous host never had Perl, so I was kind of stuck with php. Maybe when I can be bothered to get a new server I'll give wakaba another try.

tj, it would be nice to see markdown implemented either alongside or in place of BBcode in PyIB. (basically wakabamark with a link feature)

Actually I'm not using BBcode in PyIB, it's strict HTML tags that are allowed, with no attributes. I'll consider it, though.
If PyIB had support for .mod / chiptune uploading like http://iiichan.net/boards/music/ I'd use it.
>>17
Why? There's no need for another board like that.
>>17
What's stopping you from writing it yourself? What makes it the software developer's responsibility?
I eat fried pig pussies.

That's nice. Perhaps you can mention that to the fine people who browse http://img.4chan.org/b/imgboard.html
