might as well.
ED is too fucking biased to be taken too serious for information.
wikichan is currently down for the time.
that Whatport:80 might be useful as it won't be blatant BS.
lurkmmore is good as well but incomplete

(flood control is gay stupid limits..)
Just skimming through it, you didn't mention 5chan or iiChan, both of which had an impact on *chan culture.
noticed a few grammar errors, but overall gets the point across.
It's probably worth mentioning that the Wikipedia article on 4chan is now featured. If you look at the Japanese-language version articles on 2ch and Futaba, you'll notice some major differences in how they developed compared to the 4chan article ~2005/2006.

Featured? Now this is just great. 4chan is the representative of internet culture. Yep, now internet culture shall be regarded as a realm of intelligent, worthwhile people.
(Note: contrast to 2ch.net and 2chan.net)
>>5
Anyways, I am willing to bet that 2ch.net and 2chan.net are substantially different from 4chan. However, I cannot read Japanese.
Well, could you point out the differences, since I am unable to read Japanese?

I can't read Japanese; could you help me by telling me directly what are the differences?
okay. sure thanks people

The word you're looking for is techne. Also, lurk moar kid.
The japanese call them BBSes or imageboards. The "chan" name was only made up by westerners because everyone was copying 4chan's name, which it copied from Futaba Channel's domain name "2chan", which in turn was copied from 2channel. The other Japanese image boards don't use any kind of "chan" in their name, and rarely ever refer to themselves as any kind of "channel". "Channel" tends to turn up mostly when copying 2channel.

2channel has been involved in just as much crap as 4chan. Remember their campaign to mess up TIME's Person Of the Year? Compare that to Rick Astley for Best Act Ever. I'd imagine news4vip is no more civilized than /b/.
okay. I just looked. yes there are other japanese imageboards
sure. Man Im not used to posting here (just noticed I did a triple quote WTF did that happen)
