Let me add my appreciation for the translation of this wonderful manga (and thanks to Hyung Sun Kim's weblog/online comic http://kungfool.transpect.net/ for passing the word). A lot of science-fiction stories have a strong spine driving your focus of attention, but YKK has been content to wander. It gives me a glimpse of what it might be like to have an ordinary life there.

Perhaps the manga-ka meant to address this story's lack of a 'spine' in 102 with Maruko's confrontation with Alpha? Though Alpha tells Maruko that she's satisfied with her carefree life, she later suggests that she's taken Maruko's criticism to heart. Could the mangaka be telling us this way that he intends to introduce a stronger plotline?

Good point. Thanks to Neil and others for donating time and bandwith to bring this wonderful comic to the general non-japanese-speaking public. I really do appreciate it.

As for introducing plot, I'm skeptical. There were strong moments in the comic, such as the tornado incident, where it looked like the pace would change. Although it did introduce some changes, the story largely remains without a "main plot". Also, if Ashinano really wanted to push for plot, why publish PositioN, which is just as plotless as YKK?
