Did anyone notice that Sempai was using a mouth terminal cord (does anyone have a better name?) in the flashback sequence where she was piloting the jet boat? Since the purpose of the run was to gather data on human brain activity under stress and striving (as I read it) we can assume it was probably a one-way passive recording device. This would help explain how Owner, a non-robot could send a message thru Kokone, using a terminal to pickup his message and transfer it to Kokone. You will note that while she has been complemented for her clarity of transfer, Alpha makes the comment that the message "felt something like" indicating that even in the best conditions pickup from a human is at best a chancy thing.

I never noticed. Can you please post the chapter, I can't find it.

It is in chapter 28 - this page has the only drawing of it - http://ykk.misago.org/Volume4/67.
(Well spotted! I was musing over this a while ago myself...)

Howdy,
While using the mouth cord to transfer messages from human to robot makes sense, I rather like the idea of kissing Kokone to do it! :)
Best,

well ykk certainly gives us several pointers to where we should direct our
technological advances.

As she has several electrodes taped to her in that picture I'm not sure that's the same kind of data cord as used by robots. Could just be measuring something like rate of salivation. That's if it is in her mouth which I'm also not sure about. It seems to be behind her mouth, maybe attached to her right cheek. It could be dangerous to just hold something in your mouth like that in such an extreme situation.

That is a very interesting observation. In that comic, I don't think the electrodes are attached to here, I think they are attached to her helmet.
in http://ykk.misago.org/Volume5/85 the mouth devices is nearly identical. Two wires, conical tip. I wonder if sensei has some sort of bionic implant or herself is some kind of early robot.....
I don't recall any other person using a tongue device before now.

Could be she has some kind of implants. There's some English scientist who's already experimenting with that kind of thing. He's got an implant in his arm if I remember rightly. I'll have to do some research, can't remember the details, but I think he was working on being able to share sensory impressions. So if two people were linked together by their implants & one held an apple in their hand the other would be able to feel it too.
I'm not sure about the wires in the picture. Some of them are attached to her helmet certainly. Others do seem to be attached to her skin although it's possible they could be plugged into the helmet on the inside. I'm not sure why you'd want to do that though. To gather data I'd have thought she'd be wired-up all over. Although the point of that story is that there are some things that can't be understood by measurement. So maybe it is a data cord which records her experience in an entirely different way using a technology we know nothing about. If she has an implant she can't use it for controlling stuff like robots can. So as always with YKK my final answer is "I just don't know".
Speculation. The data transfer uses the nerves (or whatever the robot equivelant is) of the tastebuds. That's why the black sugar has such an effect on Alpha & Maruko. Maybe sweet things interfere with the "system" & get interpreted as an emotional signal.

I don't think the response is emotional, it looks remarkabily like the response you get when you bite into a really hot chili pepper, a staple of Mexican cooking. So I think the response is a sensory overload for Alpha.

<< So as always with YKK my final answer is "I just don't know". >>
You, me, the same.

I don't think the sugar made them sad, it just made them cry. I think it was strictly a physical response, as opposed to a emotional one. They were crying without being overly sad or joyous. My take on it is that the taste acted as the trigger, telling the system to "cry", just like how being sad, or overjoyed would. I think some sounds like on "the record" that Kokone found also produce a similar overwhelming effect, but without a uncontrollable physical response.
As for the terminal cord, I do think Sensei was using one, but for data recording only. Weither or not that requires an implant is beyond our ability to tell. She still had to steer the craft manually, unlike Alpha who seemingly can interface (become one - it would seem) with it and in a way "will" it to move.
