PositioN Chapter 7

Howdy,

Thanks to the ever diligent efforts of a wide-awake American Elf (whoa - talk about mixing your cultural references there), we happened to discover chapter seven of PositioN while the clock ticked at midnight.

Currently, it can be found, like any good figure in hiding, over at Cafe Alpha.

Be sure to love the elves up one side and down the other.

Best,

Dave

Howdy,

As far I know, this is the last chapter of PositioN that's been published. Anyone know anything different?

Best,

Dave

I thought that chapter 6 was the last chapter published. Good thing that there is some more chapter of Position. Usual thanks to elves. Seem to me that recently the time taken between the releases for YKK chapters were quite faster than usual pace. Make sure not to overwork yourselves, beloved elves ^_^

Regards.

I like this one....
It's very cryptic...moreso because it's somewhat more interesting...
A glider that hovers?
Well this IS PositioN where anything and everything can happen....anyone know the significance?

Thanks!, and a minor correction: the page titles and <title> tags for chapter 7 say "PositioN, Chapter 6."

Howdy,

And lo, the elves have fixed the problem.

This is called Slope Gliding, and is quite challenging. Judging from the way "Gramps" does it, he is indeed a master. A somewhat zen approach since he doesn't really look at the glider, but seems to be feeling his way with it, in an analogous way to how Alpha felt Sensei's surface effect boat as it glided across the water. of course in this case, it's more intuitive than a physical connection as Alpha used...

I used to play with RC Gliders and they are quite fun, but tricky to fly beacuse there is no propulsion. In Slope Gliding, you use the wind coming off the updraft of the hill as your "forward velocity" to keep the wings flying. If you balance it just right, the plane will literally stand in place until you turn it out and (typically) fly it cross wind across the face of the hill. The best guys can stand at the top of the slope, let go and have the plane float above them. After they are done flying it back and forth (sometimes at VERY great speed), they bring it in around and behind them and adjust the trim a bit to slow the plane as it comes over their heads, and snatch it from the air rather than land it.

Thanks again to the elves for the top notch work! Its a shame that there aren't more episodes of this series. I've been really enjoying Ashinano's little reminders of how we should pay more attention to the world around us and its simpler delights.

Funny, just after reading the chapter with the fog rolling over the road, I experienced this very same sort of phenomenon on a local ridge route (Mullholland Hwy over the SanFer Valley for us LA locals). Similarly, until this latest chapter, I hadn't thought about Slope Gliding in perhaps 15 years...

PositioN really adds a little extra something to life that other more story driven manga don't. Most titles and authors get so caught up in the drama they are playing, that the little nuances of life that one can personally experience if they'd just look around them, get lost. But we fortuately have Ashinano's work to help widen our worlds. For me that's the big take away from each chapter, whether PositioN or YKK... And it's thanks to the elves that I can understand what I'm supposed to be gleaning from each...

Quite interestingly.... Ashinano has depicted something very similar long time ago...

I can buy Chris Davey's theory - Maybe Su-chan is Ayase's grandmother.

Belated thanks to the elves for tracking this down and making it available! I particularly like how the weekday grampa cracks a grin when he spots Su-chan; not above appreciating an audience!
