Treasure Hunt

It's dDave. I'm in Japan. It's hot enough here to melt the ends of your hair and so humid that the moisture seeps through your flesh and into your bones, turning them to jelly.

There are several YKK cultural references that can be found in this photo I just took. Find them at your own peril.

To get you started, I'll give you one for free - the cicadas were blasting at full volume and my ears are still ringing.

Well, tokoroten is one we have seen before, Alpha invited the children there, right?

Next is the flag with the character that looks almost like rice that was seen in one of the strips on the beach. Come to think of it that shack is rather similar too. I vaguely recall "KGo" made a few cultural comments on the character on the flag, I cannot find it just now but it had something to do with the summer, right?

Oh, and there is a boy and a girl in the picture too.

Which part of Japan is this picture from?

One sign says "tokoroten". That is something you eat.
The single character that looks roughly like lots of lines radiating from the centre means ice.

“Ice” flag is a sign that says the restaurant has ‘kaki-goori’, a kind of dessert made of shaved ice and syrup. The sign is often drawn in Japanese manga as a symbol of the summer.

The photo of the dessert:

There is an 'amazake' sign on the square paper lantern, written in hiragana. Amazake is a sweet non-alcoholic drink made from rice. It is usually served hot.

Chapter 6
[v1, p124]
The left banner says 'amazake', written in kanji.
What Alpha and Takahiro are eating in this page seems to be 'misoshiru' (miso soup), which is on the right banner.

[v1, p129]
It looks Alpha and Takahiro are now having amazake.

Chapter 75
[v8, p139]
The right sign says 'amazake', with 'ama' written in hiragana and 'zake' written in kanji.

I once said that rice is rare in Alpha's world but maybe it is not too rare.
