I don't know if anyone noticed but:
Alpha's hair is green and her eyes are purple. (I think one scene, her eyes were described as azuki color)
Kokone's hair is purple and her eyes are green.
I wonder, was that design intended or accidental.

Howdy,
I noticed that too. It's extremely apparent as you can see in this page of chapter 27:

My take is that there is very little in YKK that is not intentional, so I suppose that Ashinano uses this to help indicate that the two characters are a pair.
