Consider it as you want, but I think that YKK helped me with my Aikido a little =) In understanding the Zanshin and feeling of partner particulary.
I think that it is because YKK like a zen a lot.
I'm practicing Budo Takemusu Aiki not for long, about 3 years and reading YKK for last 1,5 years, so I'm not sure how much YKK influenced on my mind, but I like the thought that it Did. =))

Howdy,
And if you watch the relationships in YKK (Kokone -> Alpha; Maruko -> Kokone; Takahiro -> Alpha; Makki -> Takahiro) you'll get a perfect understanding of Ma-ai. Always circling, never engaging.
>_<

ano...I can say the same for karate as well. At least the thought about ma-ai. But as mentioned above, for the most part, I have noticed that my zanshin has improved a great deal in both karate and iai-dou from reading YKK. A couple of times, when performing kata, I had thought of Alpha before starting and got complimented on my zanshin.
Though, of course, for a Japanese sensei, "complimented" meant that he grunted and said, "Sou da. Yoish." ^_^
All I can say is that YKK seems to have really subtle effects on my life, but invariably positive ones.

I get my Zen dose watching the cat contemplating over here past and future meals - circling thoughts, no less;)

I feel it will be right to post it here.
After watching Haibane Renmei and comparing it to YKK, a thought came.
"There is no bad or sad things. Only Mu (Void)."
I guess one can call it "satori", heh...
