Yeah, the waiter sure seems to have something for Kokone. ^^;; To have waited on her so often, I'm hope she at least knows his name!
I noticed #130, frame 1 (130:1) read a little roughly:
"Thanks to you, I was [able to] finish up early too."
I thought 136.3 was a little strangely, but I probably just haven't seen that verb word order before (country-bumpkin I am).
But other than that, great job on the translation and scanning! I like how you kept some of the Japanese onomatopoeia in 126:1 ^_^ (the only one in the chapter, though ;P)
I've had a busy busy day so far with no time for homework at all (except for right now... ばか ^^;;). Having this chapter to read was very therapeutic. It's nice to see Alpha and Kokone living their lives in their own way.

Seriously tho, The embarrassed guy is the waiter where Kokone and Shiba are drinking. He occasionally appears in the comic going ga-ga over Kokone.
Shiba-chan is Kokone's workmate.
You must know who Makki is.. she's been growing fast lately.
About the title: "50km, 6 hours". Is that the distance between Alpha and Kokone?
I like the exchange between Kokone and Shiba. Still digesting it.

Oh man I tell you I was giggling at the poor cafe waiter. Plus for some reason the second half of the Makki and Alpha part of this chapter had me tearing up a bit. Makki is growing up and getting more mature each time we see her. This has to be the first time, other than the blushing waiter, that romance has played such a prominant part of the storyline for a chapter. Shiba is acting like any concerned friend would when their best friend is without a guy. She doesn't care that Kokone is a robot and only sees her as her single friend in need of a man in her life. I like that this aspect of their relationship is being shown.
I got to wondering after reading this if Kokone has ever mentioned Maruko to Shiba. It's obvious she's mentioned Alpha several times to Shiba from her comment but has Kokone ever talked about Maruko with her yet.

I downloaded the archive. Made sure it is ok. Looked through first 3 pages. Closed ACDC quickly. Took a good breath.
With happy smile turned off computer and departed for good-doing (my friend was needing my help). Only after 5 hours I've returned home.
Switched on computer. Checked all mail and forums. Then went to kitchen, done washing the dishes and stuff. Took a bath.
Done a dozen more things. Then, at last, I've boiled water, made a tea and sat down to savor the 121 chapter...
Looks pretty like masochism for me.
But what a pleasure! "Like having an itch and finally scratching it." =)

The editors of Afternoon drop in little inane comments in the monthly edition. These are removed in the collected volumes. Since Ashinano does not write these comments, I don't bother to translate them. I suspect Neil feels the same way. Usually they are on the order of "Wow! Someone has dropped by Alpha's coffee shop! Who could it be?"

Japanese elipsis are vertical. I suspect Neil just forgot to erase the Japanese dots before he put in the horizontal English ones and end up with a cross.

Fixed the glitch with the superimposed ellipses. Oops.
Good point on the translation on page 130 being rough; I changed it to "this way, we both finish up early".
And yes, I don't bother translating the text that the editors at Afternoon insert--it's generally completely out of step with the feel of the series. Sometimes I can edit these out, but other times (like in this chapter) they drop it right over the artwork and there isn't much to be done.
This time, it reads, "Is Cafe Alpha's summer version complete!?"

I think it is wonderful that Shiba sees Kokone as just another friend and young woman. O the torment, our poor waiter must endure! Never give up hope! It was also very interesting that Kokone commented on her immortality/longevity (excuse or not) as a reason for her way of life. That was a revelation into her thinking.

BTW, I thought the latter part with Alpha & Makki one of the funniest scenes from the YKK. Alpha's cheerful effort to make conversation, and Makki's snarky teenage reply. LOL!

Eah, thouse sentences are crap. I've tried to translate them for my translation into russian, but I give up on them. They are out of sync.
By the way, on p.134 on lower panel
"And my age will slip out of sync soon..."
Not quite. Who saying it? Siba after Kokone? Or Kokone herself? And what it means? (My english fails at this)

Those were Kokone's words. She is commenting that in a relationship, she will remain young, but the other person will grow old because he is human. Therefore their ages will be out of sync (or different). Hope that helps!

This was the first time I've noticed them going over the artwork like that. Wow, that IS dumb. -_- Thanks for the explanation.
I'm starting not to care about the weenie waiter. It's his own stupid fault to not have enough courage to ask her out. ^_^ Hopefully he overheard the two reasons he doesn't stand a chance with her.

I read that the other way, in that Kokone is mentioning that although she looks young, soon she'll be getting mentally to the age where she will no longer be accurately able to interact with a person that looks her physical age in an intimate relationship. Both possibilities seem viable to me.
It seems more and more likely that the robots are specially engineered humans of a primarily biological origin, as the differences seem to be exceedingly small from the evidence over the series.

Re: the dropped-in text on page 126... I did a quick-and-dirty edit on that scene and lifted the text out. It took about five minutes and unless you knew it had been there you wouldn't be able to spot where it had been. A few more minutes work and I could have made the edits pretty well invisible.
It's more work, certainly, but not impossible to do. I'd hate to try and do it on the colour artwork though.

Poor Maruko! Didn't even get mentioned in the list of friends Kokone likes. M is probably too agressive for Koko-chan (too masculine?). Now we know the sexual orientation of two of the robots!
Alpha seems hetero, tho. The way she acts around Nai and especially Ayase seems to point that way. And her response to Maruko's pointed questions indicates she thinks of Kokone as just a friend.

Like PC, I see the "out of sync" remark by Kokone as an indication that Kokone's current chronological age matches her appearance, but that that is not going to be true for much longer.
As for Alpha seeing Kokone as just a female friend - no. Alpha clearly thinks of herself as heterosexually inclined, but let's not forget that she has erotic dreams of her kiss with Kokone. Her protestations to Maruko that she sees Kokone as just a friend could be intended either to deny her own feelings - or as an kindness to Maruko, who obviously *is* in love with Kokone.

Follow-up...
In other threads, we've talked about how the upheavals that transformed the world are a recent series of events (within the lifetime of Sensei). Additionally, with the latest chapter, we have an indication that Kokone is no older chronologically than she appears to be.
Now factor in this page:

where Kokone recalls how the beaches (that used to be plentiful in the pre-deluge world, cf. earlier in the same chapter) used to be crowded. That seems to indicate that the deluge occurred not only within Sensei's lifetime, but within Kokone's.
That seems to imply that all the major events of the deluge have occurred within the past 10-20 years.

I'm not so sure about that. She only mentions that the beaches used to be more crowded. The major events that reshaped the world could have still happened before Kokone came into being. It's just that as the pace of life slowed, fewer and fewer people came to the beaches, something Kokone noticed in her own lifetime.

I don't think implanted memories are very likely - we have on several occasions heard from the robots (Alpha in particular) that they had to struggle to learn some basic human skills.
This does not, of course, mean that Kokone - born later than Alpha - might not have implanted memories.
But I don't think it fits.

Perhaps not implanted memories, but how about aquireing knowledge Matrix-fashion? (I've often wondered how London taxi drivers memorise the streets that well) That might explain Nai's piloting ability in a sparsely populated world. Kokone might have leared the same way for her delivery job, although she did have to consult a map to find her way to the cafe.

I don't think we need to stretch to memory implant theories and such. Ashinano has given us chapters with both the robots and their owners talking about the robot's "childhood days", which seem to be a time of organic learning. Chapter 113 "fish" is especially telling:

Also, don't make too much over Nai's navagational ability as a pilot. Light plane pilots plot courses with maps, vectors and compass directions all the time. Until we see him being shown with some sort of "mental map", we'll have to assume that he is navigating "old school."
Kokone and Alpha both have been shown using maps as well.
