0_o this may explains why a lot of the male robots die early... XD
No seriously though, is it just me or everyone else here also detects a hint of yuri here and there where the robots are concerned?

Howdy,
To be fair, this topic has been discussed at length in previous threads. It's an obvious enough topic to have spawned fanfiction about an Alpha/Kokone pairing.

Think about it - the robots have human form and human genders, but they are not actually human and do not experience human sexuality. They don't have the hormonal responses to the pheromones of other people that humans have. It is up to them to create a liking/attachment for a human or robot, or they could simply just skip that.
It will probably be true that most robots who do form attachments to others make easy choices, eg Alpha -> owner. For a 'female' robot who doesn't have an owner to adore, the next easiest choice is probably another 'female' robot for much the same reasons that human women bond with other human women (even if there is no sexual aspect of the relationship).
