The rules for Pente are simple. The players take turn placing stones on the board. The winner is the player who gets five stones in a row vertically, horizontally or diagonally, or who captures ten of his opponent's stones.
Captures happen when two stones of one colour are surrounded by two of another on a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line. Captures only happen when one of the surrounding stones is placed, so you can not cause a capture of your own stones to happen.
